howdy guys,
The name is Dee and I'm serving my second term as SGA president. I'm in the middle of a campus smoking discussion on my campus and wondering if any of yall have designated areas to smoke on campus and if so, how exactly is it "enforced"?

A newbie... [27 Apr 2005|02:26am]

Hey folks,
My name is Michelle and I am the Vice President of the Student Government at New York Institute of Technology. I know there aren't many members but I def. like the idea of having an SGA group. An excellent idea to share ideas and get feedback. I don't have any questions right now to pose to the group, just wanted to introduce myself. :o)

Student Affairs? [08 Mar 2005|05:01am]

Hey all, I was recently appointed the chair of student affairs for the SGA of Western Kentucky University. We have a lot of big initiatives this semester through my committee, including working on visitation policies at the residence halls and pushing our civic engagement campaign. However, I'd like to get some input from other universities. What are you working on in the realm of student affairs at your institutions?

Hello SGA Cohorts [22 Feb 2005|08:58pm]

[ mood | cheerful ]

My name is Mitch Bruckert and i am a Junior Biology Major at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. I hail from the land where student governance isnt a right its the LAW! Thanks due to wisconsins state statue 36.09(5). We are required by law to have a voice in the governance of our institution.

I am currently the Campus Climate director of SGA. Where i am in charge of maintaing a positive student climate (aka student safety). I also have voting rights on student senate as a sga director, SGA Executive Committe (i think), and i am an atlarge memeber of SUFAC where i help tp divy up student fee money to orgs.
I also sit on all SGA boards as an ex-officio member when i feel so inclined. I am a member of the universities safety and health committee that meets 2 times a semester. I am also a delegate to the presidents coucil of the United Council of UW Students and a primary "justice" of the judiciary committee for them.

Currently i am working on a national initiative to establish a national campus safety awareness month. I have been at it since october and it is starting to pay off. It led to the introduction of h res 15 in the us house of representatives ( http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c109:3:./temp/~c109zLcXyA:: ). See if your sga will support it and encourage your state's representatives to cosponsor!

I'm so glad that there is now a community for SGA!
My name is Katie, Sophomore, Nursing major and Psychology minor, and I'm the Treasurer for the Salisbury University SGA.
I have served as an active senator for two previous semesters and will take the office of Treasurer this coming Spring semester.
I'm really excited and can't wait to become more involved on campus.
Anyone else going to COSGA in Feb?

Introduction [21 Dec 2004|10:10pm]

[ mood | awake ]

As your moderator, I thought I'd get things started. I'm Skylar, a senator with the SGA of Western Kentucky University. I serve as the secretary of the student affairs committee and also serve on the academic affairs and legislative research committees. Next semester I will assume the position of archivest. I'm a freshman and also serve as the director of the Outlet Alliance of WKU, the school's GLBTQS group.

It is my hope that this community will help SGA members from around the country learn from one another so that we can work for our respective student bodies. Hopefully things will take off soon!

x. Skylar
